The Pojkovsky tournament celebrated its tenth anniversary this year. Alexander Motylev won the event with a fantastic result 7/9.

2009 U.S. Championship

Mexican Open Championship
GM Alexander Onischuk won the Mexican Open Championship with 7.5/9 on tiebreak over GMs Emilio Cordova and Manuel Leon Hoyos. The tournament was held in Mexico City from 10-16 April. 2008 SPICE CUP, Lubbock, Texas, September 19-28
Pentala Harikrishna, Alexander Onischuk, Varushan Akobian and Leonid Kritz tied for first in 2008 Spice Cup. It was strongest international round robin tournament in the history of the US chess since 1968.

Julj 7-18 2008 Pojkovsky
IX International Anatoly Karpov Chess Tournament (Pojkovsky-Russia) starts July 8th. Alex has played in all previous tournaments in Pojkovski. In 2002 he won the event. Last year Alex tied for second and he was best on the tie-break. http://russiachess.org/online/poykovsky/index.htm
Tournament in Crimea
Just after the US Championship Alex is going to Ukraine, where he will be playing in the Ukrainian league. Then from June 7th to June 20th he will be participating in a round robin tournament in Phoros, Crimea. This year it is going to be category 19 with the average rating of 2712.
